How to have a cozy and nicely scented home when you have pets?
One of the biggest stereotypes of having pets in your household is that your home will smell. While pet ownership has its challenges, if you take care of a few things, your home will always smell fresh and clean. Let’s beat the stereotypes by showing your friends and family how cozy your home is when they come over.
Don’t let your pets get smelly!
Keeping your furry companions clean and fresh is essential for a pleasant home environment. Regular grooming and thoughtful care can help prevent unpleasant odors and maintain a happy, healthy living space for both you and your pets.
Clean their litter boxes
If you have one or many cats, the top priority is keeping their litter boxes clean. Our routine involves cleaning them every morning when we wake up, and the cats have caught on to it too. We prefer clumping litter for its convenience. However, clay litter can be quite dusty, especially for cats with asthma. As a cat mom to an asthmatic cat, I opt for tofu litter. It clumps well and is less dusty, resulting in a cleaner environment for both cats and humans!
Groom them
Grooming your dog or cat should definitely be part of your routine, or else your house is bound to be covered in fur, especially when the seasons change. If your pet has long hair, grooming them will save you from a few extra vacuuming sessions
Keep your house clean
Let’s talk about keeping your house clean. It’s all about creating a space that feels cozy and welcoming for you and your loved ones. So here is our top advice!
Vacuum or Sweep!
Ah, the eternal struggle of pet ownership: the fur everywhere! With our beloved cats and dogs shedding year-round, keeping their fur out of the house and off our clothes becomes a daily mission. While vacuuming is undoubtedly the most effective way to tackle the fur, some pets can get scared of it. Luckily, Tzatziki actually plays with the vacuum cleaner, so it’s not a problem on my part. However, it might be nice to alternate between the vacuum and the sweep to keep your furry friends happy.
A little cleaning everyday goes a long way..
Embracing a little cleaning every day can make a world of difference, especially when you share your home with pets. With our furry companions leaving their mark everywhere they roam, staying on top of cleaning tasks becomes essential. Our top advice includes washing their bedding at least once every two weeks, cleaning their food bowls and changing their water daily, and tackling surfaces at least twice a week. With these tips, your home will be fresh and clean. But, how do you make your home smell nice while having pets?
Our favorite pet-friendly candles
Did you know that most candles on the market are actually not safe for pets? Many scented candles contain chemicals and essential oils that can be harmful to pets if inhaled or ingested. Certain fragrances and dyes used in candles may even cause allergic reactions or respiratory issues in animals.
Despite these concerns, we love using candles to make our home smell amazing and feel cozy, especially when we have guests coming over. If your home smells like Vanilla Crème Brulée or Pecan Pie, then you’re definitely breaking the stereotype of having a smelly home because of your pets!
That’s why we’re excited to share our favorite candle company with you: One Fur All. Their vegan, pet-friendly candles are safe for our furry babies. What’s more, the founders, David and Robert, are passionate about animal rescue, and a portion of their sales goes towards animals in need.
